Impact of Trade Measures
iDERA offers a “safe space” for research and the free, objective and well-informed exchange of ideas.
iDERA has inaugurated an advisory service to answer enquiries regarding the economic impact on developing countries of the USA’s recent trade policies and its additional tariffs on all imports.
Central to iDERA’s ethos, as an independent ThinkTank, is its commitment to the sustainable and equitable advancement, particularly of small and other vulnerable developing countries. It is therefore concerned that these measures could expose these countries to negative consequences. For them to safeguard their interests, they need to urgently devise and implement optimal policies, strategies and other responses. To do so successfully, their policy makers, advisers, businesses and others, require full and accurate information and understanding of how the USA’s policies and its additional tariffs will affect their countries, both immediately and in the long-term. iDERA will offer support, helping them fill any gaps in knowledge. This will enable the fuller appreciation of the direct and indirect implications and consequences of these measures and help them devise optimal responses. Towards that end, Government and other public sector officials, NGOs, business groupings and small businesses are invited to submit questions regarding the impact of, and possible responses to, the USA’s trade policies and measures. Their questions will be considered and answered by experts drawn from iDERA's membership and external specialists. Depending on the volume of questions, their complexity, and the research required, responses will be provided normally within three to five working days. There will be no charge for the service. Questions are to be sent to [email protected] or [email protected] |
