Impact of Trade Measures: Advisory Service
iDERA offers a “safe space” for research and the free, objective, and well-informed exchange of ideas.
Question 1: Trade & Food Sovereignty (Regional Focus):
How might the recent U.S. trade measures, including tariffs, impact food importation patterns in small island developing states (SIDS), and what strategies could be pursued to strengthen regional food sovereignty and reduce external dependency?

Trade & Development Done Differently

The International Development Empowerment and Representation Agency – iDERA ltd is a St Lucian company.

Its areas of operation include; International trade and development; environment, green economy and sustainable development agriculture, and marketing; capacity building and training, economic and other policy research, project conceptualisation, preparation, review and appraisal and event management, including workshops, seminars, symposia and conferences.

Our Mission

iDERA seeks to participate in and contribute to international efforts aimed at advancing sustainable development, particularly in the smaller and most vulnerable developing countries.  We recognise that securing real improvements in these countries, economic, social and environmental development, their improved welfare, fuller involvement and harnessing of the capabilities of their women and vulnerable groups often require changes in policy. However, selecting, developing and implementing the most appropriate policies to obtain the desired outcomes require information and technical capabilities that the countries do not themselves always possess.

Our ultimate goal is to secure changes in national and international policies, regulations and practices to make them more conducive to sustainable development in small and vulnerable states. We do so principally by undertaking policy research and consultation, capacity building, and providing advice to policy and decision makers and working with them and other officials in implementing policy reform.

iDERA also offers direct support to these states in their outreach and representation and advancement of their interests abroad. Via its publications and on-line forums, it contributes to informing public debate on a range of issues including, but not limited to, international development, environmental sustainability, the empowerment of women, equity and good governance, etc.
